SCAT™ Fixation Half-pins,
(Single Cortex Negative Thread Profile)
These pins are similar in design to the Ellis™ pin (Kirschner Medical)
and were originally designed for use with the corresponding small and medium
KE clamps. With the advent of modern ESF systems and the availability of inexpensive
INTERFACE™ and CENTERFACE™ fixation pins, use of these pins is rapidly
declining.
Surgeons performing TPLO surgery may find SCAT™ pins useful for temporary
attachment of the alignment jig during the procedure, or may prefer a 1/8” Trocar/Trocar
Partial Thread IM Pin.
All SCAT™ fixation half-pins are produced from the highest quality, implant
grade 316LVM stainless steel.
| PART NO. | NAME | DIAMETER | tHREAD LENGTH | OVERALL LENGTH |
| 24222 | Small SCAT™ Pin | 3/32" (2.4mm) | 1/2" (12mm) | 4.5" (114mm) |
| 25222 | Medium SCAT™ Pin | 1/8" (3.2mm) | 1/2" (12mm) | 5" (125mm) |
Smooth Fixation Pins
These pins are similar to a single trocar smooth intramedullary pin. These
have typically been called half-pins, but are used as half-pins and full-pins.
With the availability of modern ESF systems and economical INTERFACE™ and
CENTERFACE™ fixation pins, use of these pins is rapidly declining.
If a fixator needs to be in place for an extremely short period of time (e.g.
Type I-a transarticular fixator for protection of a reduced elbow luxation),
these pins may provide sufficient short-term stability; otherwise, threaded
ESF pins should be used.
All smooth fixation pins are produced from the highest quality, implant grade
316LVM stainless steel
