Circular/Hybrid ESF Nuts
Nuts are the most common fastening element of CESF and hybrid ESF frames. In general, they are available in 2 major sizes or diameters for mini or standard frames. Within each frame size, nuts are available as a general fastener, to manipulate distraction and compression of CESF frames, or to provide frame adjustability when using hybrid rods. Mini CESF and hybrid frames use nuts with 4mm threads while the standard size circular ESF and hybrid frames use nuts with 6mm threads.
Extended Nuts
Extended nuts are designed to simplify application of fasteners and components at locations that are difficult to approach with a wrench.
Hex Nuts
Hex nuts are the most basic fastening element used with IMEX® external fixation frames and are a component of the IMEX® SK™ ESF clamp. Commonly used on threaded rods, posts, bolts, and other locations, surgeons should keep an adequate supply of these inexpensive fasteners on hand.
Spherical Nuts
Available for mini and standard CESF/hybrid ESF frames, spherical nuts are designed to be used as mating pair with corresponding spherical washers and two wrenches are required for proper use.
Nylon Zero Tolerance Nuts
Patented Zero Tolerance/Zero Motion design can be utilized to compress or distract rings, rods, and hinges. Most commonly used with CESF frames to achieve angular deformity correction, but also used with bone transport and treatment of non-union fractures. Available in two sizes: mini CESF/hybrid ESF and Standard CESF/hybrid ESF. (U.S. Patent # 5,968,043)
