SK™ Linear Distraction/Compression Device

Linear distraction/compression bodies and related rods are available in two sizes based on the SK™ clamp size appropriate for the rod diameter: mini or small SK™. When assembled with appropriate rods, the device is designed to provide linear distraction or compression without the need for a more complex frame. Uses to date include: femoral/humeral lengthening over a nail, lengthening of tibia or radius/ulna using Type I-b or Type II frames, fracture compression, and treatment of non-unions.

Since potential torsional instability exists, it is recommended that Type I-a frames only be utilized in conjunction with an IM nail or rod. Alternatively, Type I-b or Type II frames should be used instead of stand alone Type I-a frames.

Mini SK™ Distraction/Compression Body and Rods

Mini SK™ Distraction/Compression Body and Rods

The right and left-hand rods available for this assembly are easily cut to length to minimize inventory while supporting device length appropriate to the patient. Functions with the mini SK™ ESF clamp. Right hand and left hand rods are required to complete the assembly. Left hand rods are clearly marked to distinguish them from right hand rods and simplify assembly.

Small SK™ Distraction/Compression Body and Rods

Small SK™ Distraction/Compression Body and Rods

One end of the body accepts standard 6.3mm, small SK™ ESF hybrid rods maintaining modularity. The opposite end accepts similar rods with left-handed threads thus enabling the device to function as either a distraction or compression device. 6.3mm titanium rods are difficult to cut so a variety of lengths are available to allow the surgeon to tailor the device length to match patient anatomy. Left-hand rods are clearly marked to distinguish them from right hand rods and simplify assembly.
