These pins along with related drill bits and taps are designed for lower limb application in large animal patients. Typically, fiberglass casting is used to incorporate the pins and hoof. The 1/4” large animal trasfixation pin features three chuck flats on the blunt end for securing the pin in a Jacobs chuck. Pins are of CENTERFACE™ fixation full-pin design but are commonly utilized with transfixation casting. Pre-drilling and tapping are required.
Irrigation of the tapped hole to remove bone is recommended prior to inserting these pins and will increase the longevity of the pin bone interface.
