Negative-profile & Smooth External Fixation Pins
Smooth fixation pins and traditional negative threaded pins represent antiquated ESF pin technology. Only in minimally challenging, rapidly healing situations should they be used.
SCAT™ Fixation Half-pins - Negative Thread
These pins are similar in design to the Ellis™ pin (Kirschner Medical) and were originally designed for use with the corresponding small and medium KE clamps.
Smooth Fixation Pins
These pins are similar to a single trocar smooth intramedullary pin and have typically been called half-pins, but can be used as half-pins or full-pins. With the availability of modern ESF systems and economical INTERFACE® and CENTERFACE® fixation pins, use of these pins is rapidly declining.
